A woman and child were sent to Citizens Medical Center Wednesday after a rollover accident at U.S. 87 and Farm-to-Market Road 1090.
Sierra Maria Barrientes, of Port Lavaca, was traveling south on U.S. 87 about 1/2 mile north of Lander Road about 7:45 a.m. when the accident occurred, Department of Public Safety Trooper Ronald Johnson said.
Barrientes, 29, attempted to pull her 2001 Lincoln Navigator to the right side of the road and when she turned left back on to the highway, she overcorrected the vehicle.
The Navigator flipped twice and landed in the median of the highway.
Barrientes and her daughter were transported by ambulance with cuts and abrasions to Citizens Medical Center, Johnson said.
Johnson did not know the name and age of Barrientes' child.
Neither Citizens Medical Center nor DeTar hospitals had record, of treating the mother and daughter.

Thanks for the answer VAstaff.
archiebonkers2: if you pay attention to what you read in my post I asked that question to the "Advocate staff" - not you!
September 21, 2011 at 5:24 p.m.There was another 18 wheeler rollover near Cuero this morning too. A truck carrying corn I think. I believe thier were also two other cars that were involved. I saw a fire truck and ambulances there, I also saw a helicopter land. Hope everyone was ok, this is like the 4th 18 wheeler rollever in DeWitt Countyl in the last 5 days.

We are up that early -- and late -- but we can't necessarily hear all of the crashes via police scanner traffic. We rely on community members like you to help report what we learn doing our rounds.
We are checking on this morning's 18-wheeler crash and will update what we learn soon. If you ever have a news tip to share, please post it here, as you did, or call the newsroom at 361-574-1222, or post on the Victoria Advocate Facebook page.
One point of clarification is that we consider major accidents to, generally speaking, involve serious injury. It's often difficult to know that, though, until after we check into them. Sometimes, accidents that look bad do not result in serious injury. Those generally appear in our police blotter rather than as a separate story.
Thank you again for your comment.

Got a question for the Advocate staff:
How do ya'll decide which accidents to report?
In the past week there have been 3 what I would call "major" accidents on the way to my work.
One this morning close to the 59 - 87 intersection, one last week within about a half mile of this same spot, and one yesterday on 185 close to Bayer rd.
On the one this morning there was a milk truck on it's side and a 18wheeler facing the wrong way on the southbound lane, last week a trailer flipped on it's side and a ford truck again in the southbound lane facing the wrong way and yesterday on 185 looked like a head on collision.
These were all around 6:15ish in the morning, do ya'll not get up that early?
