  • To the Editors and Proofreaders at the Victoria Advocate: Please check your dictionary, or call the Victoria College truck driver training program. There is no such thing as a semi-TRUCK. It defies logic. There are plenty of semi-TRAILERS -- that's most of what we see on the road every day.

To save you some time and for the readers' benefit, a "trailer" is a container vehicle that is capable of rolling about completely on its own -- has wheels on all four corners. A "semi-trailer" is a container vehicle that needs support at one end to roll about -- has wheels only on two corners. It needs a "truck" under the end without wheels to be ambulatory.

There! I hope I never see the words "semi-truck" on the pages of the Advocate again.
