spokesperson with the Calhoun County Youth Rodeo Association said more than $50,000 was missing.

Canion is being represented by William Patterson, a Houston attorney.

Dan Heard, the district attorney for Calhoun County, said the hearing will be a chance to hear any motions or any other pretrial matters before deciding whether to set a trial date. The hearing is scheduled for Nov. 3.

If found guilty, Canion faces two to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
