Minh Tran strives to out-bump his competition in the app world with Card Swapp. He described his 6-month-old app as an improvement to Bump and Card Munch.

"It's easy to use and fast," he said. "You can put anything on there."

Card Swapp allows you to turn your contact information into a QR barcode for others to scan. You can also scan and decode QR barcodes from printed business cards and advertisements.

The Washington D.C.-based dentist created a built-in news feed with relative information such as updated school closings and traffic closures. You can follow your favorite Twitter accounts, save food menus in a few seconds and find out restaurant holiday hours of operations.

Card Swapp is free, however there is a pro version for 99 cents, which allows you to search your contacts list and export your contacts to Outlook, Gmail and Yahoo. This application is available on iPhone and Android phones.

Card Swapp is user friendly, even to a Smartphone newbie. One limitation is you have to link images instead of storing them.

Tran said that he's working on bandwidth issues to be able to store them in the future. This allows for less human errors, he said.

"You never have to mistype a number or name again," Tran said.
