• Why are we surprised? Many of you may remember when Harlandale use to be in our district. This also occurred at Memorial stadium one night after a hard fought match when both the VHS boys and girls teams beat Harlandale. The Harlandale boys team started a fight after VHS beat them. If memory serves me correctly the Victoria PD got involved and several police officers and coaches had to break up the fight. I think the boys team actually came out of the stands after the girls match. I just remember it being ugly, and it was Harlandale who started it that time as well.

  • last time I checked trash talking was not a good enough reason to assault someone.

Proceed with the case and if the video is as damning as it is rumored to be then it will settle the case.

If nothing else, sue that district. They are just as bad in every other sport as cheap shots and dirty play.

  • BigMac,

I agree to a certain extent. If the School or School District does not suspend the player, coach ,etc. Then maybe UIL should step in and suspend the district for one year of post season play. This would send a strong message to coaches to teach/preach to players about sportsmanship and the consequences for failure to abide by them.

  • You have a right to file charges but nothing will happen; the judge will cite an emotional outburst and no way to prove smack talking wasn't going on to provoke the player to strike. The school district might suspend the player but don't count on it that would admit fault and they won't do that.
Life lesson: When you are the best others will try to knock you down but they won't succeed.
Move on and leave the losers behind you.
