• Name: LaRue Roth
• Age: 59
• City of residence: Victoria
• Current title: Director of the Victoria Convention and Visitors Bureau
• First job: I worked as a waitress in a small cafe when I was 16.
• What it taught me: One thing I'll never forget is a large group of people who came in one day. It was the first time in my life I'd heard people discussing ideas, rather than just talking about other people, and it struck a chord. These were people who discussed their ideas not because they were in school and had to, but because they wanted to. I also learned that, when you carry a tray with four glasses on it, you should never remove the two glasses on the opposite side. The tray flips and the drinks spill all over you. I learned that the hard way.
