Former Flyer earns pitcher of the week honors

Former St. Joseph Flyer and current Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball player Denver Diefenbach was named Diamond Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Diefenbach helped the Javelinas (22-9) move up three spots to 25th in the current College Baseball News national poll by delivering in four appearances last weekend, holding opponents to a .206 batting average.

After missing the entire 2011 season with an arm injury, the relief pitcher posted 4.2 innings against St. Edwards, allowing one run, while earning his first victory of the season.

In three appearances against Cameron, Diefenbach threw a total of 5.1 innings, allowing one hit, two walks and four strikeouts. Additionally, he pitched a scoreless 12th inning in the series' final game, a 3-2 victory.
