Arnold Road, in Victoria and Goliad counties, is now open after being closed for rebuilding. The bridge closed in September.

The bridge on Arnold Road, over Coleto Creek, opened Friday after being closed for seven months for replacement.

Victoria and Goliad counties partnered with Texas Department of Transportation to have the work done by contractor, Bay Ltd.

Federal funds paid for 80 percent of the work, while the state covered 20 percent.

Victoria and Goliad counties completed their equivalent match projects, which paid for their required 10 percent, said Victoria County Commissioner Kevin Janak.

The Arnold Road bridge is the first of four bridges scheduled for replacement in Victoria County. Others include two more in Precinct 2 to be replaced by 2013 and one more by 2016, if state and federal funds are still available.

"I'd like to thank the community for its patience, and I'd like to thank TXDOT for being such good partners in replacing the bridge for our community," Janak said.
