  • Wake up, Joe; no one has even suggested depriving him of his freedom of speech. What Guillen (and apparently you) needs to realize is that freedom of speech does not free one from the consequences of that speech. He said something stupid, the community reacted in a very predictable manner, and now he is suffering the consequences. An old adage holds that it is always advisable to ensure that the brain is engaged before putting the mouth in gear -- advice that Guillen sorely needs, assuming he has a brain to engage.
