VC baseball end season this weekend

The Victoria College Pirates baseball team lost a tough series to conference champion Texas A&M Corps of Cadets this past weekend in College Station.

In Game 1 of the series, Cody Pemberton pitched four innings and Cody Clayton pitched two innings.

Billy Sippel went 1 for 3 with a triple, and Aaron Perez went 1 for 3 in a 3-0 loss.

In Game 2 of the Saturday doubleheader, Ryan Longoria pitched four innings and Casey Rinehart pitched two innings in a 10-2 loss.

Robbie Trenck, Casey Rinehart and Longoria each had one hit.

On Sunday, Sippel pitched four innings with two strikeouts, and Clayton pitched two innings with two strikeouts in a 2-1 loss.

Trenck and Corey Peoples each had one hit in the close game.

The Pirates will complete conference play this weekend with a three-game series against Texas Christian University.

The Pirates will be giving special recognition to this year's field sponsors: Wells Fargo, Goyen Electric, Pro Field Services and the Mendez Family from Bloomington.

Pregame ceremonies will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with Captain Vic, the VC Pirate, along with games, prizes, music and plenty of hot dogs.

Saturday's doubleheader begins at 11 a.m. with a 30-minute break between games.

Sunday's lone game will begin at 11 a.m.

This final series of the season will be played at the VISD Special Events Baseball Field located next to Memorial Stadium.
