UHV captures road win over Northwood
CEDAR HILL - Tyler Steiner hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning and the University of Houston-Victoria went on to an 8-4 win over Northwood on Friday.
The teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but played only a single game because of rain earlier in the day.
The Jaguars (16-25) had 14 hits, including three each by Chad Kruse and Josh Ledesma and two by Steiner.
Brayden Blanton pitched 4.1 innings in relief to pick up the win. Blanton had five strikeouts.
Nick Huff pitched two scoreless innings to earn his fourth save.
Six UHV pitchers limited the Knights (21-21) to five hits.
The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.
