Name: Ronald W. Bailey

Age: 60

City/county of residence: Goliad

Occupation: Retired

Political party: Republican

Office Seeking: Goliad County Commissioner Precinct 3

Why do you want to serve in this position?

I have a strong desire to become involved more closely with the workings of my county and its citizens and to try to make a difference in the economic development of the area, promotion of the area's youth, and breathe new life in the political arena of the county.

What qualifies you to serve in this office?

I feel that having worked hard my entire life for the good of my family and my community and being blessed with good health and most importantly, time, I can use it to support the citizens on commissioners court guarding their tax dollars and getting the most for them.

I am a strong conservative and severe critic of waste and having experience in the construction industry managing budgets and job planning I feel I am well qualified for this job.

If elected, how will you go about effectively serving your constituents?

If elected, I will be very attentive to the needs of the county and will work closely with commissioners court to use tax dollars in a way that best benefits the county. Priorities have to be set and adhered to in order to achieve the most positive benefit for its citizens.

Name: Jim Kreneck

Age: 68

City/County of residence: Goliad

Occupation: Goliad County Commissioner Precinct 3

Political party: Republican

Office Seeking: Goliad County Commissioner Precinct 3

Why do you want to serve in this position?

My first priority is to protect all of the citizens of Goliad County by providing them with clean drinking water. The next most important item is to provide them with the best medical care available with a first class EMS service. Just as important is a quality sheriff's department equipped with the latest technology to handle the toughest of situations.

Last, but not least, are the quality volunteer fire departments in Goliad County, consisting of the city of Goliad, Weesatche, Weser-Ander, Schroeder and Fannin. We have maintained more than 97 miles of roads with the least cost per mile.

What qualifies you to serve in this office?

With more than 11 years of service as your commissioner of Precinct 3, I have stayed within my budget every year. At the end of 2011, I turned in more than $330,000 from Precinct 3 reserves to help cover the budget for 2012. I accomplished this by having top quality people helping me every day. We do most of our own paving, all of our own mowing and almost all of our own mechanical repairs. We are totally responsive to the citizens.

If elected, how will you go about effectively serving your constituents?

I will continue to be conservative with their tax dollars. I will still provide them with the best roads, emergency services and sound leadership in commissioners court. During hard economic times it takes strong leadership to accomplish all of this and still keep taxes as low as possible.

Name: Glenn Pitts

Age: 50

City/county of residence: Goliad

Occupation: Self-employed

Political party: Republican

Office Seeking: County Commissioner Precinct 3

Why do you want to serve in this position?

Because they need help. There's a lot of money coming in to the county and there's money going out. It remains a business and it needs to be treated as one. I believe that we need to take care of opportunities as they arise here in the county. I feel like we've had some opportunities that we've missed.

What qualifies you to serve in this office?

I was an executive with Best Buy and Circuit City, in management of a large retail team that had to deal with a lot of issues big businesses face. I was a manager of electronics engineering and a buyer, and basically an information machine - how to improve margin and the overall business profit and loss statements. I think that this county needs someone who can look at these numbers and decipher them.

If elected, how will you go about effectively serving your constituents?

As commissioner, I'm one fourth of the entire county. I'll have a vote. The commissioner has to do his homework to find out what will be the greater good of the county. I feel like with the proper management and the proper structure, Goliad can grow.
