  • She did not wander into her own backyard, she went out the back door to play. These are their own dogs that she is around every day. Parenting skills had nothing to do with this case.

You need to think before making a ridiculous reply.

Did you read the entire article? How could the child have, "wandered into the backyard of her home", and get bit if the parents were right there?

"Would you expect your pet to bite you?" Me? No. But I would never let a two year kid around my dog unless the dog was properly restrained by me.

Don't lose site of the fact that a two year kid can not be held responsible for their actions. That is what parents are for!

  • Biting, nipping is a dog's way of playing (ever watch puppies play?). A kennel or otherwise restrained dog will be much more inclined to "play rough".
As a child, like many of us, I get bit by our dog. I learned not to pull her tail, evidently something she absolutely disliked.

There is a story here, people will have to learn that dogs will be dogs.

  • This is the most ridiculous story I've seen in a while. And just to give you all a heads up, my dog bit me while we were on our walk the other evening. He was feeling a little frisky and wanted to play. The police were not called, the streets were not blocked off, I did not require a trip to the hospital. The gentleman working in his garage was amused with the conversation I had with my dog about how it's not polite to nip.

  • @vicm109r,
You need to think before making ridiculous comments. You have no idea what was going on with that family. How do you know the mom and dad were not standing right there? Things like that can happen in the blink of an eye. It was a family pet. Would you expect your pet to bite you?

  • Not really a newsworthy item. This sort of thing happens with pets. Now had the child been isolated away from the home for biting the family dog, that would be news! But I guess it would depend on the breed of the child as to what action would be taken.

  • @Blue_lake,
No one will call for a ban on this breed... If you notice the girl is still alive... Had it been a pit bull they may not have been so lucky!!

  • Hmm. Can't wait to see the comments on this one. So now should we ban all of this breed too? I agree aguaflaca, not really newspaper worthy.

  • You know, I was bitten by the family dog when I was a child because I was harassing him. And, my former stepdaughter was bitten by the family cocker spaniel for pulling his ears. Is this really a newsworthy item? Get over the dog thing.
