The Children's Discovery Museum of the Golden Crescent will host Kids' Spring Fest to commemorate its 10th anniversary, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The family-friendly event will have games, crafts, entertainment by local children's groups, pony rides, and a host of other activities.
Concessions will be also be available.
Paige Gedvillas, the museum's interim director, said 4,000 people attended the festivities last year.
"We're so grateful that people came to support us," she said.
A Parade of Schools led by grand marshal Gary Moses will go around DeLeon Plaza beginning at 11 a.m.
Participation in the parade is free, but groups must register by calling or emailing the museum.
"It's a great way to bring people out to the event," said Gedvillas.
Mascots and banners are welcome. Participants are invited to show their spirit wearing school colors and streamers.
The top three schools, with the greatest attendance based on percentage of enrollment, will receive prizes for their schools.
Students who participate in the Parade of Schools will receive $5 worth of tickets for the event.
"This helps to celebrate our 10th anniversary and we hope to kickoff the next 10 years," Gedvillas said.
Kids' Spring Fest participants include Cade Middle School Choir; Nazareth Academy Band; Miss Victoria Court; CASA; Museum of the Coastal Bend; Midcoast Family Services; Region III Education Service Center; The Texas Zoo; Backyard Bass; U.S. Coast Guard; Master Gardeners; Adopt-A-Pet and more.
Participating organizations will provide activities and games. The event is free, but as one of the museum's major fundraisers of the year, the inflatables and some of the activities will require tickets.
Tickets are 50 cents each, or with the purchase of a $20 hand stamp, children may have unlimited access to all activities and inflatable attractions.
