Five rescued from capsized boat near Mustang Island

Two adults and three children were rescued Thursday morning by the U.S. Coast Guard after their boat capsized near Mustang Island, according to Lt. Terri Parris, of the U.S. Coast Guard.

The group was on a 21-foot recreational boat when an adult called police about 9 a.m., saying the boat was taking on water.

A helicopter was dispatched and arrived at the scene - five miles off the Packery Jetties, near Mustang Island, about 10 a.m. The boat capsized.

All five were hoisted and brought back to base. No injuries were reported.
