July 27

Sheep/goats: 10

Trends: Steers and heifers, steady/good.

Steers: (200-300) $147-$200; (300-400) $134-$170; (400-500) $128-$161; (500-600) $118-$145; (600-700) $113-$135; and (700-800) $106-$121.

Heifers: (200-300) $120-$179; (300-400) $125-$164; (400-500) $116-$143; (500-600) $110-$134; (600-700) $112-$123; and (700-800) $108-$120.

Slaughter cows: $40-$83; slaughter bulls, $75-$97.50; stocker cows, $60-$121; bred cows, $700-$1,349; pairs, $860-$1,120; horses, $55-$180.

CUERO

Receipts: 1,138

Had 152 cows and 15 bulls. The cow market was better as demand and numbers to sell were lower resulting in a higher market.

The bull market was also improved for same reason.

The calf market was steady to firmer with last week's market. The lighter end was up as much as $10/count. Under 450 pounds were stronger also. There was good demand in all weight classes. A good solid market from top to bottom was notable.

Packer bulls: Heavy weights, $85-$97.50; lower grades, $80-$88.

Packer cows: breakers, $65-$73.50; boning cows, $68-$78.50; canners and cutters, $68-$86; light and weak, $40-$70.

Palpated dry cows: $950-$1,200; pairs: $930-$1,270.

Steer and bull calves: (under 200) $228-$280; (250-300) $189-$217.50; (300-350) $165-$190;(350-400) $167-$197.50; (400-450) $160-$181; (450-500) $140-$160; (500-600) $136.50-$151; (600-700) $131-$136; (700-800) $124-$127.

Compared to last week: Better quality classes of calves and yearlings sold steady to $2 higher on the heavier weight classes and $2 to $6 higher on classes 500 pounds and lower. Market very active again this week.

Packer cows and bulls sold steady on about 85 head total.

Packer cows: Higher dressing utility and cutter cows, $75-$87; lower dressing utility and cutter cows, $63-$75; light weight canner cows, $53-$63.
