Driver runs red light; three sent to hospital

A white 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck ran a red light and struck another vehicle on Sunday evening, causing the truck to roll over.

The white 2011 Ford, driven by George Bates, 47, of Victoria, was eastbound in the 5000 block of Houston Highway when Bates ran a red light. This caused Santos Gonzales Jr., 50, of Victoria, to strike the white truck on the left side with his vehicle, a silver 2012 Kia Forte, causing the truck to roll over, Victoria Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Eline Moya said.

Gonzales was transported to Citizens Medical Center and is in stable condition, according to the house supervisor.

Bates' two passengers, John Collins, 32, and Lee Howell, 28, were also taken to Citizens, where they were treated and released, the house supervisor said.

No citations were issued.
