To the editor:
As general manager of the Lower Colorado River Authority, I would like to clarify some issues in your weekend article on the White Stallion Energy Center. Randy Bird, the company's chief operating officer, was quoted as saying LCRA had offered to buy all the power from the generating plant and LCRA would provide the water for it.
In fact, LCRA never agreed to buy power from White Stallion. LCRA did receive a contract proposal from White Stallion to buy up to 25,400 acre-feet a year to provide water for the plant. However, the company substantially changed the terms of the contract and I halted further action on it in August 2011. We rejected that application in November 2011 and returned it to White Stallion.
LCRA currently has no pending request to supply water to the White Stallion plant and does not expect any.
Thank you,Rebecca S. MotalGeneral Manager, LCRAAustin
