Officers chased a Victoria man Wednesday afternoon from the 3900 block of Azalea Street, before arresting him in the 1900 block of Mimosa Drive.

No one was injured in the one-mile chase, said Sgt. Eline Moya with the Victoria Police Department.

Lamar Williams, 21, is accused of trying to run from officers, first in a white four-door vehicle and then bailing from the car and running on foot.

Officers were responding to a child custody dispute at 12:45 p.m., when they learned Williams had reportedly caused a disturbance, showed a gun and left the scene, she said.

Officers caught Williams with assistance from Victoria County Sheriff deputies.

He was charged with evading arrest in a vehicle and on foot, and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Moya said.
