Woman, child hurt in crash on US 87

A woman and child were taken to Citizens Medical Center on Wednesday night after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 87 at McCoy Road.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Ronald Johnson said the driver of a Hyundai passenger car, Angelica Lopez, 20, of Nederland, and her 1-year-old son, were transported after rear-ending an International truck.

They were treated and released, according to a hospital spokesperson

The driver of the truck, Douglas Sleeman, 65, of Victoria, was not injured.

Victoria Fire Department Emergency Medical Services responded to the call at 8:32 p.m., said Battalion Chief Bubba Bayer.
