No West Nile found in Crossroads

While there have been no reports of West Nile virus in the Crossroads area, according to the State Health Services records, Bain Cate, director of Calhoun County, Cuero-DeWitt County and Victoria City-County Health Departments, has some tips on how to minimize chances of getting a mosquito-illness like West Nile Virus.

Cate noted that the key to controlling mosquito-borne illness is personal protection or prevention.

Drain any standing water.

Use DEET mosquito repellant.

Avoid outdoor activities at dawn or dusk.

Dress in long-sleeved shirts and long pants if you have to be outside.
