One driver, Maxine Cheng, 31, of Houston, suffered a broken leg Sunday when her vehicle slid off U.S. Highway 59 near Inez.

INEZ - A Houston woman was transported to Citizens Medical Center on Sunday after a one-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 59 near Inez.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephen Gray said Maxine Cheng, 31, was traveling south on the highway in a black 1998 Mercedes-Benz when the vehicle hydroplaned and started to roll.

Gray said Cheng was driving 75 mph during heavy rains, which was an unsafe speed for those conditions.

Cheng was transported by ambulance to the hospital with a broken leg. As of 5:15 p.m., Cheng was in stable condition at Citizens.

Cheng was the only passenger in the Mercedes and no other vehicles were involved in the wreck.

An investigation will determine whether a citation will be issued, Gray said.
