Mike Osterson blasted the pins for a great third game after a slow start in the Summer Sunday Strikers League to post the weekly high score.
Osterson started with games of 182 and 220 before finding the line to string strikes for an excellent 275 individual game and 677 series.
With the Sunday Strikers being the only competition for the week, the scores available were limited.
Judy Reyna rolled a 218 high game, which contributed towards a 570 set and high for the women.
Five leagues will start competition next week and the number of scores available will increase.
With the start of the fall season, bowlers will reunite with friends they probably haven't seen for three months.
Two bowlers, who I was happy to see back on the lanes, were Dorothy Moore and Dan C. Gutierrez. I admire them for their tenacity and joy of bowling.
Dorothy is 90 years old and drives in from Yoakum to compete on Monday afternoons to meet with friends and compete.
Dan is just one year behind Dorothy at 89 and he also enjoys the friendships he has made over the years.

When the USBC Open Championships concluded in Baton Rouge, La. last month, a total of 58,970 bowlers participated.
With that many bowlers the number of places to cash is pretty high in each event.
The challenging lane conditions give anyone an opportunity to win a check from this prestigious tournament.
Houston's bowling great Bill Lillard Sr. competed in his 65th national championship and is the active career pinfall leader, trailing only the late great Joe Norris for the overall lead.
