HONORING LAW ENFORCEMENT

The 100 Club of Matagorda County held its 35th annual law enforcement awards dinner on Friday.
The awards ceremony took place at Eagles Hall on Friday, Aug. 17.
"I would like to take this time to mention how fortunate we are to have corporte sponsors, this entities have contributed very generously to our campaign and have helped to make the dinner possible," said Haskell SImon, president of the 100 Club.
The national anthem, the invocation and the history of the 100 club was given by Simon.
The officers who were awarded the 2012 outstanding officers awards were: Officer Michael Ferrel, Matagorda County S.O. Patrol Division, Sgt. Wesley Lenthart, Matagorda County S.O. Jail divsion, Sgt. Maria Gomez, Palacios Police Department, Aaron Koenig, Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden III, Trooper Juan Aguilera, Texas Department of Public safety, Matagorda COunty Trooper, Officer Kim Crummett, Bay City Independent School District, officer Justin Kirk, Bay City Police department.
"We must keep in mind that this dinner and all of the efforts that make the programs of the 100 Club possible have only one purpose, to recognize and support our law enforcement officers and their families for all they do for all of us," said Simon.
