Mayer-Kovar Laurie Beth Mayer of
Laurie Beth Mayer of Victoria and Ronald Joe Kovar of Ganado were married at 2:00pm on August 25, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria. The Reverend Bob Knippenberg officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of George and Angeline Mayer of Victoria. She is the granddaughter of Sidonia Mayer and the late George Mayer, Sr. of Moulton and the late John and Annie Vincik of Shiner.
The groom is the son of Emil and Helen Kovar of Ganado. He is the grandson of the late Emil and Frances Kovar of Ganado and the late Justin and Leona Sykora of Yoakum.
Christie Mayer, sister of the bride, attended as maid of honor. Amy Miori, sister of the bride, attended as matron of honor. Tracy Wooldridge, friend of the bride, attended as bridesmaid. Junior bridesmaids were Megan Miori and Anna Claire Miori, nieces of the bride. Flower girl was Emily Mayer-Bain, niece of the bride.
Justin Wooldridge, friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Jim Miori III, brother-in-law of the bride, and Michael Chanek, cousin of the groom. Junior groomsmen were Carter Kovar, nephew of the groom, and James Miori IV, nephew of the bride. Ring bearer was Luke Miori, nephew of the bride.
Ushers were Wesley Kocian, cousin of the bride, and Erin Cabral, cousin of the groom. Acolytes were Brandon Janis and Caleb Janis, cousins of the groom.
Special participants were Robert and Martha Maeker, Godparents of the bride, and Paul and Glenda Kovar, Godparents of the groom. Troy Barta, cousin of the bride, and Betty Miori served as Eucharistic Ministers. Lector was Jeralyn Barta, cousin of the bride.
A reception was held following the ceremony at Holy Family Activity Center.
Following wedding travel to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Victoria.
Laurie is a 1996 magna cum laude graduate of Victoria High School and a 2000 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a Master in Professional Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration. She is a Certified Public Accountant and is currently employed as the Controller of B-H Genetics in Ganado.
Ronald is a 1998 graduate of Ganado High School. He is currently employed by the Jackson County Sheriff Department as a Jailer at the Jackson County Detention Center in Edna.
