George Rodriguez was hired as a graphic designer at the University of Houston-Victoria. His duties include designing promotional materials, logos and other creative designs. He previously worked at Sharkmatic Advertising in San Antonio designing print and online advertising.
Miles Harrison recently was named the October Employee of the Month at the University of Houston-Victoria. He is a an area network administrator in the Information Technology department and has worked at UHV since 2001.
Nazif Durmaz recently joined the University of Houston-Victoria as an assistant professor in the School of Business Administration. He teaches economics and researches the statistical data of economics theories. Durmaz holds a doctorate from Auburn University and previously taught at Stetson University in DeLand, Fla.
Mark Ward Sr., a University of Houston-Victoria assistant professor of communication, presented two papers Nov. 14-18 at the National Communication Association annual convention in Orlando. "Testimony and Community: A Comparison of Evangelical and Mormon Conversion Stories as Cultural Metacommunication" and "Give the Winds a Mighty Voice: The Social Integration of Evangelicals through Media Ritual" explored communication within religious communities.
Mary Lasater is in her first semester as a visiting assistant professor of curriculum and instruction in the University of Houston-Victoria School of Education and Human Development. She teaches two special education classes and two curriculum and instruction courses. Lasater earned a Master of Education from UHV and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Houston. She previously taught as a visiting instructor at UH and at the University of St. Thomas.
