Aransas Wildlife Refuge may allow hunting

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently announced that the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is proposing to open the Tatton unit to white-tailed deer and feral hog hunting and Matagorda Island to waterfowl hunting.

The Environmental Assessment, Hunt Plan and Compatability Determination are available for comments and can be found on the refuge's website.

The 30-day comment period began Nov. 13. All comments must be submitted to the refuge via email or in writing by close of business Dec. 13.

Comments can be emailed to fw2_rw_aransas @fws.gov. Include "Comments on Proposed Hunting Opportunities" in the subject line.
