EL CAMPO'S TOP THREATS: See who tops the Ricebirds' depth chart

El Campo may rely on running the ball most of the time, but that doesn't mean they are short on threats both with and without the ball.

The Ricebirds' triple threat on the ground will all get the ball while Cole Hunt, Brett Prihoda and the defense will try to ground the high-flying Yellowjackets and win the first state football championship in school history. Here are the team's four main threats:

COLE HUNT

SENIOR . TE/DE

STATS: 14 catches for 308 yards 3 TDs; 115 tackles (16 for loss), 15 sacks

The senior Rice commit has been important on both sides of the ball. He is the team leader in sacks as a defensive end and in catches at tight end, which may not be much in the Ricebirds' run-first offense, but is still significant. He's most dangerous, along with Trey Martin and Brett Prihoda, on defense, as El Campo is holding opponents to just 242 total yards per game.

JACK DAVIS

JUNIOR . RB/DB

STATS: 147 carries for 1,487 yards and 16 TDs; 10 catches for 156 yards; 44 tackles (4 for loss), 2 interceptions

A force on both sides of the ball, the junior will get the ball often in multiple situations. He has 10 catches this season to go along with his 147 carries and is part of the three-headed monster that drives almost all of the Ricebirds' offense. He has the most rushing yards on the team despite getting the ball the fewest times.

MONTRAY JOHNSON

SENIOR . FB/LB

STATS: 183 carries for 1,240 yards, 18 touchdowns

Montray Johnson has been the Ricebirds' primary option this season, taking the ball 183 times and bowling forward for several yards. He is averaging 6.7 yards per carry, which is the fewest among the team's top rushers but still nothing to scoff at. Johnson will get the ball often on Friday as El Campo openly dares Stephenville to stop its running game.

BRYCE BRANDL

SENIOR . QB

STATS: 162 carries for 1,351 yards, 20 TDs, 45 for 90 passing 945 yards, 4 TDs, 4 INTs

Bryce Brandl makes up for average passing stats with explosiveness as a runner out of the backfield. El Campo's triple threat of Brandl, Johnson and Davis gives the Ricebirds options that has cause problems for most defenses. The senior has signed to play baseball for Texas State next year.
