Navy to celebrate opening of Goliad Airpark

The U.S. Navy will celebrate the grand opening of the Navy Outlying Field Goliad in Berclair on Monday.
The airfield, scheduled to be used by the new T-6B Texan, went through several repairs and added a fire station for future operations.
The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony from 10 a.m. to noon.
Capt. David Edgecomb, NAS Commanding Officer will preside over the opening ceremonies. Guests will then have the opportunity to view the fire station and a T-6 Texan on the airfield.
The airpark will be used for training, said Bob Torres, public affairs officer for the Navy, and will see touch-and-go landings.
