CUERO

Dec. 14

Receipts: 1,412

Had 141 cows and 18 bulls. The packer market was higher for the first time in weeks. Numbers available have finally slowed with the result higher prices. Pretty much about $2/cwt across the board higher.

The calf market was again better as most classes showed higher prices across the board. The heavier better quality steer and heifer calves were a good $2 to $4/cwt better with some individuals as much as $6 to $8/cwt up. The only classes not showing much improvement were the over-fleshy types. A lot of buyer interest on all weights. A good rain would help.

Packer bulls: Heavy weights, $87-$96.50; lower grades, $67-$80.

Packer cows: breakers, $65-$75; boning cows, $65-$77.50; canners and cutters, $66-$82; light and weak, $40-$55.
