Schedule of Christmas holiday closings

Christmas holiday schedule for governmental offices and other services in the Victoria area includes:
Residential trash collection and curbside recycling collection will be picked up as normal Monday. Residents with recycling collection Tuesday will have their recycling picked up Saturday. Recycling carts should be placed by the curb by 7 a.m. Residents with Tuesday garbage collection will have their garbage picked up Wednesday. If your recycling collection is scheduled Wednesday, place all trash/recycling carts and/or additional trash cans a minimum of 5 feet apart and place by the curb by 7 a.m.
For the week after Christmas (Wednesday to Jan. 2), extra garbage will be picked up, but no yard waste/brush will be collected that week. Residents are asked to put extra holiday trash in plastic bags, boxes or old trash cans at least 5 feet away from the automated cart by 7 a.m. Yard waste/brush collection will resume Jan. 3.
The Victoria County Landfill, brush site and the Garden-Ville Compost Facility will be open until 4 p.m. Monday and closed Tuesday for Christmas. Normal operating hours will resume Wednesday.
Live Christmas trees will be picked up as yard waste beginning Jan. 7. Only live trees are collected, and the stand and all lights and decorations must be removed.
The city will not pick up extra recycling the week following Christmas. Extra recycling can be taken to the Waste Management Recycling Center, 809 N. George St. The Recycling Center will be closed Christmas Day but is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
The zoo will be closed Monday and Tuesday.
CITY AND COUNTY OFFICES
All non-emergency city offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday for the Christmas holidays. Victoria Transit will be closed Tuesday. The Victoria City-County Health Department and the Victoria County offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday. Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission will be closed Tuesday. City, county and state emergency services will continue to operate.
Museum of the Coastal Bend will be closed for winter break through Jan. 1. Nave/McNamara will be closed Monday and Tuesday.
The Victoria Public Library will be closed Monday and Tuesday. The Victoria College/University of Houston-Victoria Library will be closed Sunday through Jan. 1.
Department of Public Safety driver's license office, Texas Department of Human Services, Workforce Solutions-Golden Crescent and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will be closed Monday-Wednesday. Victoria County Health Center will close at noon Monday and reopen Wednesday.
U.S. POSTAL SERVICE
The post offices will close at noon Monday and reopen on Wednesday. They will only have express mail on Tuesday.
First Victoria National Bank, Texas Bank and New First will close at noon Monday and reopen Wednesday. Wells Fargo and Prosperity Bank will close at 1 p.m. Monday and re-open Wednesday. Bank of America, Capitol One and American Bank will close at 2 p.m. Monday and re-open Wednesday. IBC Bank and First Convenience Bank will close at 5 p.m. Monday and re-open Wednesday.
All public and private schools will be closed through Jan. 1, except St. Joseph High School and Trinity, which resume classes Jan. 3.
Victoria College offices will be closed through Jan. 2. University of Houston-Victoria offices will be closed Monday through Jan. 1.
Customer service can be reached until noon Monday, from 6 to 10 a.m. Tuesday and will resume a normal schedule Wednesday. An automated system is available 24 hours a day for customer concerns at 361-574-1200.
All other departments, except the newsroom, will close at noon Monday and re-open Wednesday. To report news any time, call 361-574-1222.
