Will extra holiday trash and recycling be picked up after Christmas? What is the collection schedule for the holidays?
Yes, extra trash will be collected after Christmas.
Extra garbage will be picked up from Wednesday to Jan. 2, but no yard waste or brush will be collected during this time. Residents are asked to place extra holiday trash in plastic bags, boxes or old trash cans at least 5 feet away from the automated cart by 7 a.m.
Yard waste or brush collection will resume Jan. 3.
During the week of Christmas, residential trash collection and curbside recycling collection will be picked up as scheduled Monday. Residents with Tuesday garbage collection will have their garbage picked up on Wednesday.
Residents with recycling collection Tuesday will have their recycling picked up Saturday. Recycling carts should be placed by the curb by 7 a.m.
If your recycling collection is Wednesday, please place all trash, recycling carts and additional trash cans a minimum of 5 feet apart from each other with carts placed by the curb by 7 a.m.
The city will not pick up extra recycling the week following Christmas. However, extra recycling can be taken to the Waste Management Recycling Center, 809 N. George St.
The Recycling Center will be closed Christmas Day but is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Those using the center must be a resident of Victoria with a current driver's license and must bring a copy of a city utility bill for verification.
If you have a live Christmas tree that you need to dispose of, the city will begin picking up Christmas trees Jan. 7.
Only live trees are collected. The stand and all lights and decorations must be removed.
Flocked trees will not be collected. Residents will need to dispose of flocked trees at the Victoria County landfill.

Bootfest was such a huge success this year, and my company wants to be part of the festival in 2013. Can you tell me about sponsorship opportunities?
Yes. It's not too early to start thinking about becoming a 2013 Bootfest sponsor and being part of Victoria's biggest celebration. More than 30,000 people attended our second annual Bootfest, and we expect Bootfest 2013 to be another crowd pleasing, toe-tapping good time for area residents and visitors to the city's downtown area.
Bootfest wouldn't be possible without the support of community partners. There are a variety of sponsorship levels and benefits. For more details and information, please contact the Victoria Convention and Visitors Bureau at 361-485-3116.
The city of Victoria wishes you and your family a safe and Merry Christmas.
