The Victoria Business and Education Coalition is honoring mentors who donate their time to work with students in Victoria schools as part of the Sure B.E.T program.

This week's spotlight mentor is Larry Le Brecque, 62, a retiree who mentors and tutors 25 students at West High School.

What made you decide to be a mentor?

I enjoy the math and love working with the kids.

What have you learned by the student, educational system, etc. that has enlightened you?

Students just want someone who cares about them and understands their challenges. I like to give them tools they can use and see them grow.
