The Decora Study Club met in a regular meeting on Jan. 24 with Joey Hall, vice president of the Eagle Ford Asset Team, as the guest speaker.

Introduced by Marcy Worsham, program chairman for the day, Hall covered the find, drilling process and protections in place to conserve. Forty-five members and four guests had an opportunity to ask questions, which added to the informative Power Point presentation.

President Francisca Watts presided over the business meeting. The collect was led by Dee Skeete; the pledge to the American flag by Pam Fitch, and the pledge to the Texas flag by Rose Drost.

Mary Ann Wright, recording secretary, read the minutes, which were approved. Vicki Grimes gave the treasurer's report.

Pat McDonald gave the federation report on the history of the General Federation of Women's Clubs founded in 1890, with roots traced to 1868. The Texas group was organized in 1897 and joined the GFWC in 1899.

Today, the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs, a nonprofit organization, is the largest voluntary association of women in the state. The research data reported 70 percent of the public libraries in Texas were founded through the assistance of Texas women's clubs. The impact of volunteer work in Texas can be easily traced on the official website for the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs.

President Watts appointed Jeanette Totah, Mary Jane Shurtz and Beth Persons to the nominations committee.

Norma Nelsen gave an updated report on the maintenance of the Victoria Women's Club House. The club house is maintained by the members of Decora Study Club, Bronte Club and Morning Study Club.

It was announced the LifeLong Learning program for seniors, sponsored by Victoria College Workforce and Continuing Education Department, was under way. For more information, call 361-582-2528.
