FOOD BANK OF THE GOLDEN CRESCENT

The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent directors have established a signature event for the food bank.

The event, the Sweetheart Charity Ball, was first held last year, the 25th anniversary of the food bank.

This special event brings together major donors and good friends of the food bank in an atmosphere that is both festive and celebratory, said Dennis Brown, food bank executive director.

With H-E-B as the major sponsor and many other corporate partners coming on board, the inaugural event drew almost 300 people and raised a net of $18,000 to help assist needy families in the region.

The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent works with more than 100 agencies in 11 counties to help feed the hungry.

The 2012 version of the charity ball is scheduled for Tuesday, Valentine's Day.

Gary Moses will be the master of ceremonies. LuAnn and T. Michael O'Connor are the event co-chairs.
