UHV splits two with Texas A&M-Kingsville

KINGSVILLE - The UHV Jaguars split two with Texas A&M Kingsville in a doubleheader Friday.

UHV's Cory Carter scattered eight hits and struck out seven in his eight innings of work. Nick Huff pitched a perfect ninth inning in the first game.

Creighton Hoke went 2 for 3 with a two-run home run in UHV's three-run fifth inning of the first game. Ryan Suescun and Tyler Steiner each had two hits in that game.

UHV allowed five runs in the first and committed three errors in a 6-1 loss in seven innings in the second game.

The Jaguars (3-3) play their home opener against the Javelinas (2-1) on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Riverside Stadium.
