A benefit on behalf of Janice Nutt, widow of Jerry Wayne Nutt of Port O'Connor, will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 3 at the Port O'Connor Community Center to help defray funeral expenses.

Don Haynes, benefit chairman, and his crew, The Smokin' Nuts, will prepare a barbecue dinner. Jerry Nutt was an original member of this barbecue team.

Included in the event are a bake sale, a silent auction (ending at 3 p.m.) and a live auction starting at 2 p.m. The live auction will include a duck hunt with one night's lodging, a painting donated by artist Roy Dacus, two marine radios, lodging for two nights at the Inn at Clark's, and other items donated by the community.

The barbecue dinner will consist of brisket, potato salad, beans, Spanish rice and tea. The cost of the barbecue dinner and items in the bake sale are by donation.

For information or to make donations for the auction, call Joyce Jordan at 361-655-7999. For those wanting to make a monetary donation, a bank account has been set up at First National Bank, 3675 W. Adams Ave., P.O. Box 399, Port O'Connor, TX 77982. Make checks payable to Jerry Nutt Benefit.
