Dale Pendergrass, 42, of Seadrift, decided not to press charges against a man who threw a concrete block at his windshield as he was driving down Ben Jordan Street Thursday.

A 60-year-old man threw a brick at a car while standing in the middle of the 2300 block of Ben Jordan Street and challenged cars to hit him about 1 p.m. Thursday.

The brick struck a gold Buick Rendezvous driven by Dale Pendergrass, 42, of Seadrift, and broke the windshield.

Pendergrass said the man was daring people to run over him and yelling obscenities.

Detective Daniel Torres and Senior Patrol Officer John Swenson responded to the scene.

The man threatened to fight the officers.

The man, who had a Nevada driver's license, was taken to Citizens Medical Center for a psychological evaluation, the officer said.
