Try eating on $150 per month. That takes some doing. I can not afford fresh veggies all the time. So I make Beef Stew. It costs about $18 to make and it lasts me 4-5 days. That is breakfast, lunch and dinner. I augment my diet with hot dogs, hamburger, and mac and cheese. My total food bill is about $150 per month. .....I have noticed that the less healthy foods are cheaper than the healthier foods. I am also a diabetic so that tends to make things harder to deal with when purchasing food.
The price of velveeta was $3.88 a few weeks ago, yesterday, at walmarts it is $5.88 for the same size package. I guess it costs more to eat healthy.
We still need to feed our family healthy, well-balanced meals while keeping to a set budget.
