A two-car collision sent two people to the hospital, took out a street sign and nicked a telephone pole at the intersection of North Navarro and Broadmoor streets.
Alfred Baca, 54, of Victoria, was leaving Sam's Club parking lot in the 9200 block of North Navarro Street when his dark blue Dodge Caravan was struck by a red Pontiac G8, causing the van to roll over, striking a street sign and a telephone pole about 6:12 p.m., said Senior Patrol Officer Zach DeLaRosa.
Witnesses saw the Pontiac, driven by Eric Baker, 24, of Yoakum, leave Dale's Fun Center at a high rate of speed south on North Navarro Street, DeLaRosa said. After striking the Dodge, the Pontiac spun farther south on North Navarro Street.
Baca and his 13-year-old daughter, who were out of the vehicle and walking around when police officers arrived, were transported to DeTar Hospital Navarro as a precautionary measure, DeLaRosa said.
Baca was released and his daughter was expected to be released, the officer said.
After being examined by emergency service personnel, Baker refused to be transported, the officer said.
Baker will be cited for traveling at an unsafe speed, DeLaRosa said.
