Although the holidays have come and gone, the Barbara and Brett Rheinschmidt family - Brett, a wounded hero in the Global War on Terror - will enjoy them for a long time to come because of the generosity of Buddy Kamin, his family, many local companies and individuals he enlisted, as well as the dedicated volunteers of Warrior's Weekend.
Buddy asked for and received the Rheinschmidt's name from us as possible recipients of his house full of furniture giveaway, and he selected them as truly worthy.
Warrior's Weekend volunteers moved in the home on Tuesday and worked day and night to completely revamp the home for the visit by Santa on Friday morning. The Rheinschmidts didn't get a vacation as seen on TV, but we put them up at The Hampton Inn for those three nights.
Buddy not only provided the Rheinschmidts with new furniture, but he also had Brett's truck fixed and provided new appliances, including a new washer, dryer, stove and refrigerator. There are too many folks involved to name them all here, but all should feel proud to have "given back" a little to one who laid his life on the line to protect our freedoms.
But most of all, thanks Brett, and thanks, Buddy.
