After Columbine, VMI, the idea of a gun in a school is something that is our greatest fear.

This is a very sad story, but I feel the child left the police no choice but to shoot him. However, I would have preferred the child be shot in the leg, shoulder or arm. Prayers go out to the victim, his family and the shooters.

After many request from PO for this young man to drop his weapon, he refused. At his age he clearly knew what consequences were of bringing a weapon to school...even if it is a fake one, the PO had no way of knowing this and he should have complied to the PO demands to drop the gun. There was no safe way to evacuate the school with an armed gunman in the hall ways of the school. It is unfortunate that this young man died and my prayers go out to the family. This just goes to prove the reasons why parents should be more involved in their children's life and KNOW what they are doing. Also, they should teach them right from wrong. I would hope that if something like this happened at my children's school that the PO would respond in the same way. The job of the PO is to protect innocent lives and clearly they did what they had to do to protect the other children and employee of the school. My prayers go out to the family of this young man, students/faculty who had to witness this horrible event, as well as the PO involved in this incident--clearly this is not going to be an easy thing to deal with for any of them. It is sad that people feel the need to bring guns and weapons to school now days to "deal with their problems".

Unfortunately, according to the article, he pointed the gun at the police after repeatedly refusing to comply with their demands that he put the gun down.
Evacuating the other students while this one was running through the halls with a gun would have put the other students in the direct line of fire instead of behind locked classroom doors.
It is a very unfortunate situation for all involved. Our prayers go out to the parents of this young man and the police officer that were involved, as well as the students and staff that had to witness this terrible event.

Before these people make a statement for the paper...they should have the facts! The moron that said they should have called in the snipers...sheesh...what do think a sniper does? He does NOT shoot to wound! This kid...yes kid...had a toy..yes toy...but did you see the pic of the actual gun he used? The red piece that makes it look like a toy had been "removed"! They police were and are completely justified in this situation...case closed!!!

Hey if you are older than 10 years and you bring a gun to a school, you have to be trying to get someone excited.
Police, Great Job!
