Victoria couple receives the Humanitarian of the Year award
Winfred and Mary Ruth Kainer were awarded the Humanitarian of the Year award from the DaCosta Sons of Hermann Lodge No. 265 at their annual Christmas party. They have been active members in various church and community organizations over the years: Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Texas German Society, Polka and Waltz Club, Hochheim Prairie Branch No. 5, Adult 4-H Adult Leaders Association, Catholic Life Branch No. 52, and the Lone Tree Volunteer Fire Department. The Kainers have taken on leadership roles serving as officers, committee chairpersons, directors, and auction chairpersons. Winfred has served as the president, vice president, and a committee member over the past 24 years, and Mary Ruth has served as the corresponding secretary for the past 26 years for the Sons of Hermann Lodge No. 265 in DaCosta.
