EDNA - The National Weather Service might miss the snow making its way to the Crossroads.

On Saturday, the Brackenridge Main Event Center will be filled with 59,000 pounds of snow for the third annual Winter Carnival & Snow Day.

"It's a way to do something different, to give the family a place to go in the winter," said Cammie Pearson, the center's recreation manager.

About 2,000 people attended last year's winter fest.

From noon to 4 p.m., participants can play on two snow slides, two snow areas and inflatable tubes. Hay rides through the park are a new addition to the festivities. Doors open at 11 a.m.

Also new this year is a $15 all-inclusive wrist band, which includes admission to all of the day's activities. The spectator fee is $5.

Those who make a full weekend by camping on the Brackenridge Park campgrounds will receive a 50 percent discount on the all-inclusive wrist bands.
