The St. Joseph High School basketball team will participate in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches' "Hoops for Hope."

The event is an opportunity for teams and communities to get involved and raise money for charities in the Victoria area.

St. Joseph has chosen to raise funds for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease.

The team will wear royal blue colors and sell T-shirts for $10 in support of ALS.

On Jan. 24, St. Joseph will play Gonzales in basketball. The junior varsity games are at 5 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. The varsity game begins at 7:30 p.m. All games will be at St. Joseph's gymnasium, 110 E. Red River St.

Many activities will be held, including a half-court shot contest for junior high students to participate in. Prizes include an autographed basketball by the varsity boys' basketball team, gift cards, T-shirts and more.
