Victoria couple's grandson plays role in a film

Jasper is the son of Mark and Melanie Martinez Newell of New York. He is the grandson of Jose and Mary Elizabeth Rendon Martinez, both, originally from Victoria and the nephew of Mercy Rendon of Victoria. Jasper plays Kevin as a child in "We Need to Talk About Kevin" which comes out Jan. 27. It is a dark film about a mother's emotion of having raised a son who grows up to kill his classmates similar to Columbine. Tilda Swinton, the actress that plays his mother in the film, was nominated as best actress at the Golden Globe Awards last evening.
