Feb. 19, March 17: Hallettsville - Held the third Saturday of the month at The Knights of Columbus Hall from 9 to 4 p.m. Market Days are free and have a large variety of items for sale. For more information, visit hallettsvillemarketdays.com.

Festivals

Feb. 23-26: Port Aransas - The 16th Annual Whooping Crane Festival is open to avid or amateur birders, families interested in learning about birds, photographers and anyone that loves all things nature related. The four-day festival features birding experts, boating excursions, as well as guided bird and nature bus tours, exhibits, interactive workshops and seminars, a charming children's art exhibit, and free nature-related "Bird's Nest" trade show. March 23-25: Hallettsville - A two-day event for the South Texas Polka & Sausage Fest. Festivities begin with a traditional Polka Mass. Performers, such as The Moravia Czech Heritage Singers and area polka bands provide music throughout the day and into the late evening. For more info call, 361-798-5430.

Other events

March 2: Gonzalez - To celebrate Texas Independence Day, the Old Jail Museum will host a breakfast that will include sausage, scrambled eggs, hash-browned potatoes, tortillas, orange juice, coffee. Plates are $5 and will be served from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Tables will be set up in all the rooms of the Old Jail Museum and plates are available to-go. At noon there will be a wreath-laying ceremony on Texas Heroes Square in honor of the men from Gonzales who died at the Alamo and those who fought for Texas independence.
