Editor, the Advocate:

Saturday night, Jan. 21, two guys had a fist fight here in town. Meanwhile, at another location (our beautiful new Victoria Fine Arts Center), another event took place - our live symphony orchestra, joined by guest artist Michael Martin Murphey, performed an outstanding program of classical and country music. Hundreds of enthusiastic people witnessed and cheered the outstanding presentation. Several of my out-of-town relatives came for the express purpose of hearing the program.

Which affair did the Advocate cover? The fight made the banner headlines; not one word about the fine arts presentation - a great disappointment. An outsider reading your paper might think Victoria is a crime-filled city, based on what they read in the Advocate.

Please print more positive news. We do not need another National Inquirer.

Bernice Nelson, Victoria

Editor's note: The Advocate published an advance story and photo about the symphony's performance, and it was displayed prominently so people could plan to attend.
