Two Goliad County churches have received historical markers from the Texas Historical Commission.

On Jan. 27, the Commission announced that Fannin Street United Methodist Church, 354 S. Mount Auburn St. in Goliad; and Union Missionary Baptist Church, 41 Post Lane in Fannin, will receive the markers.

The churches were among more than 200 locations that received historical markers last week.

Additionally, a marker will be placed at Goliad High School honoring William Rubio Carbajal, the first Hispanic student to graduate from the school. He graduated in 1935.

Dedications for these markers will be scheduled for later in 2012.
