Man dies in wreck in Shiner

A 23-year-old Shiner man died about 3 a.m. Wednesday in a one-vehicle crash in Lavaca County.

Authorities identified the victim as Dexter Mayberry, who was driving south on state Highway 95.

A spokesperson at the San Antonio office of the Texas Department of Public Safety said Mayberry veered into the northbound lane, over-corrected and then overturned his vehicle, a 2003 Ford Sport Trac pickup.

No other injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing, the official said.

Travis Hill, the justice of the peace for Precinct 2 in Lavaca County, pronounced Mayberry dead at the scene.
